The Zookeeper's Quest

A collection quest for tamers. Find thirty rare animals scattered across the world, tame them, record them in your journal, and hand the completed book to the Zookeeper. He'll send you somewhere that will teach you to bond another pet — if you survive it.

This quest is repeatable with no limit on how many times you can complete it. Each completion permanently increases your pet bonding capacity by one.

This quest is designed for players with Animal Taming and Animal Lore. High taming skill is required to catch the rarest specimens.

Getting Started

The Zookeeper stands in the keeper's lodge at the Moonglow Zoo (4540, 1367, 23), Felucca.

He sells the Zookeeper's Journal for 4,995 gold. The journal is blessed and bound to the character who buys it — nobody else can open it, record in it, or turn it in. You may only hold one at a time.

If you want to start over, the Zookeeper will take your journal back and sell you a fresh one at full price. He'll tell you exactly how many entries you're about to lose before he does it. There's no refund, and a completed journal can't be discarded this way.

The Thirty Rares

Rare animals don't have their own spawn points. Each one shares a spawner with its ordinary counterpart and appears in its place occasionally, so you find them by hunting the places their common cousins live and clearing the area to force respawns. Tracking helps.

Each rare is a tougher, better-looking version of its base: roughly 15% more stats, 20% more hit points, 10% more damage, and a distinctly different hue.

Two Above Grandmaster

The Albino Wyrm and Gilded Dragon can only be tamed by someone who has pushed taming past 100. That's deliberate. You don't have to tame them yourself — a rare bought, traded, or gifted to you counts the same, which is how most people get these prestige pets. High-skill tamers catching rares for sale is an intended part of the economy.

The Gilded Dragon is a prestige pet rather than a war dragon: it's noticeably weaker than a true dragon and takes three control slots.

Recording an Animal

Double-click the journal to open it. Thirty names across three pages, each with a blue gem beside it. Grey means unrecorded; green means done.

Click the gem next to an animal's name, then target the tamed creature. It joins the Zoo's collection and the entry turns green.

The animal must be:

  • Tamed and under your control — you must be its current owner
  • The species matching the entry you clicked
  • Alive, not stabled, not summoned
  • Standing near you

You don't have to be the one who tamed it. The journal only checks who owns the pet right now. A rare bought, traded, or gifted to you counts exactly the same.

Permanent

The animal is consumed when you record it. It's gone — it lives in the Zoo now.

The Expedition

Hand a completed journal to the Zookeeper and he gives you an Expedition Scroll, bound to you.

Using the scroll opens a public gate where you stand that stays open for 60 seconds. Anyone may walk through it — bring friends, and be aware that anyone else can follow. The jungle runs under normal Felucca rules. Pets come with you.

On the far side is a lost stretch of jungle in the Lost Lands. There's a small settlement with a banker, a healer, a stable master and a provisioner, and a village Elder in a hut. Recall, gate travel and marking are blocked in both directions — you leave through the exit gates, or you die.

You have two hours. Clocks around the settlement show the time remaining, with warnings at 30, 10, 5 and 1 minute. When it expires, everyone is removed.

The Three Tamers

Somewhere in the jungle are three tamers who have made the place their own. Each guards a locked chest — the key is on their corpse, or pick it.

The Beast Tamer calls a Colossus, an Obsidian Gargoyle, a Two-Headed Behemoth and a Jungle Titan when threatened.

The Reptile Tamer answers with a Land Shark, the Ophidian Queen, a Wyvern Monarch and an Anaconda.

The Jungle Warden (deeper in) fights in two phases: - Warded: Heavily armoured against physical damage and turns part of what it takes back on whoever struck it — pets are unaffected, but players who melee it will feel it. - Below half health: The ward shatters, defences collapse, blows land much harder, and the rest of the pack arrives. A group that spends everything on the first phase loses to the second.

All three are immune to Provocation and Peacemaking, and their summons can't be tamed.

The Reward

With all three dead, return to the village Elder. The scroll's owner chooses up to nine others who took part — they must be on the expedition roster and physically present when the reward is given — and hands the scroll over.

Everyone chosen, and the owner, permanently learns to bond one additional pet.

There's no cap. Do it again for another.

Afterwards

You have ten minutes to gather your things and leave through the exit gates before the jungle is cleared. A new expedition can't begin for thirty minutes after one is completed, and only one can run at a time.

If the server goes down mid-expedition, the scroll is returned to its owner and there's no cooldown. A run that simply expires with bosses still alive is a loss, and the scroll is spent.

Pet Bonding

Bonding is enabled shard-wide. Feed a pet you control, wait seven days, and feed it again to complete the bond. You must be able to tame the creature yourself — your real taming skill, not a temporary boost — and only its owner can start the process.

Every character starts able to bond one pet. Each completed expedition raises that by one, permanently.

Existing bonded pets are never broken. If you're above your current limit, you keep everything you have but can't bond another until you've earned enough slots to get back under.
