Economy: City Caches, Production & Resources

Four key resources drive the faction economy: Iron Ingots, Boards, Bolts of Cloth, and Food. These flow from city caches into faction stockpiles via trade packs and caravans, funding daily upkeep.

City Caches

Each city maintains a counted ledger of resources. Caches materialize resources only when loaded onto a caravan or dropped as loot.

Resource What It Is
Iron Ingots Ore refined, used for gates/fortification
Boards Logs refined, used for gates/fortification
Bolts of Cloth Cloth harvested & spun, used for garrison upkeep
Food Cooked fish steaks, used for garrison/captive rations

Base Production

Only three resource cities produce on a 10-minute tick:

City Primary (60/hr) Secondary (24/hr)
Minoc Iron Ingots Bolts of Cloth
Britain Boards Iron Ingots
Skara Brae Bolts of Cloth Boards

Food is never base-produced — it enters caches only via trade packs (see Trade Packs).

Production Rules

  • Rate per 10-minute tick (fractional carryover, no downtime catch-up)
  • Caps: 10,000 primary / 5,000 secondary per cache
  • When full: a cache stops producing that resource until it falls below the cap

How Resources Flow

  1. Production → fills city cache
  2. Trade pack delivery → cargo converts into the destination cache
  3. Caravan pickup → owning faction loads cache goods into caravan (see Caravans)
  4. Caravan wreck → if intercepted, goods become lootable crates
  5. Deposit to stronghold → caravan arrives, goods added to faction stockpile

The faction stockpile funds daily upkeep (see Daily Upkeep) to maintain gates, garrison, and fortifications.
